Story [Word document]
The Ohio Learning
First Alliance (OLFA) emerged as a partnership of Ohio's major education
organizations that came together with support of the national Learning
First Alliance to actively assist Ohio public school districts in improving
student learning.
The goals of OLFA
are to:
1. Ensure that high academic expectations are held for all students;
2. Ensure a safe and supportive place of learning for all students;
and
3. Engage educators, parents and other community members in helping
students achieve high expectations.
The OLFA administers
the District Leadership Development component of this Initiative, which
began with a November 4-5, 2001 institute, entitled "1st Response".
This institute was designed to assist the ten "Jennings Initiative
Partner Districts" in aligning curriculum, assessment, and instructional
support to the state academic content standards. The Institute and follow-up
activities continue to reinforce and expand upon the Ohio Department
of Education's regional forums for academic content standards.
